How is ideal weight estimated?

There is no single perfect weight. These formulas (Devine, Robinson and Miller) estimate a healthy target based on your height and sex, and were originally designed for clinical use. We also show the weight range that corresponds to a healthy BMI (18.5–24.9). Treat these as guides — your ideal weight also depends on muscle mass, frame size and overall health.
